Farewell MLE BBQ Luau

Friday night our PTA put on a farewell BBQ for Maple Lawn. This summer our school is being torn down and completely remodeled, and it won't be complete until the fall of 2012. (when Cristian starts 4th grade, and Ava starts 1st grade). Next year, my children will not be school-less. They are going to another elementary school that is about 5 miles from our house (McAlder Elementary), and the McAlder Elementary students are going to the brand new school. A little school shuffle :) Here is Cristian participating in a hula hoop contest.
A guy from the newspaper came to the event and interviewed my family. Apparently we are the first family to have 3 generations attend Maple Lawn Elementary. My grandma, Aunt Denise, Aunt Lisa, and my mom were all able to come to the BBQ and talk with the guy from the Herald. It was fun to reminisce and recount our elementary school days :)
Here I am drawing out a family tree for him.
Here are the 3 generation of MLE Huskies. My grandma (who sent all 6 of her children to Maple Lawn, and they lived practically across the street from the school :), my mom, Aunt Lisa, Aunt Denise, me, Cristian, and soon to be Ava :)
We ended up talking with that guy from the Herald for an hour and a half, so I wasn't able to take very many pictures of the fun Hawaiian themed event! They had a DJ, professional photographer, games and contests, and of course, BBQ dinner. Here are Cristian and his good buddies, Brandon, Collin, Bailey, Lydia, and Meah. (and Ava too)

Cannot wait to see the new Maple Lawn Elementary in another year!

That is really neat that 3 generations of your family have attended the same school...what cool memories you all must have, and I imagine the stories of how things have changed over the years are pretty amazing too. And now you can be a part of this exciting new chapter with the new building!
