Birthday party

Ava had fun at her friend Clara's gymnastics party! She loves any excuse to go to the gym!
And I had another excuse to try out my "scrunchy" braids" on Ava :)

Playing w/ the parachute. It was so fun for Ava to see all her preschool friends again!

New Hair Style

My friend Tara taught me how to do this cute new hair style, I call it scrunchy braids. In gymnastics, your hair do is just as important as the leotard you're wearing. Presentation is everything, you're literally judged from your head down to your toes. I'm not much of a hair stylist, so thank goodness I have someone who can teach me along the way!
Isn't it cute! Not bad for my first ever attempt.
Of course she had to demonstrate some of her skills... on the pavement, in a dress!!
And her salute to the "fake judge" she was performing to :)

Field Day

The last week of school is full of fun activities. I volunteered at the school's Field Day and was in charge of the 3 legged race station. I didn't get very many pictures since I was helping out, but I did get a couple :) Here's Cristian with his best friend Collin racing.
The ball toss (it was too cold to use water balloons) but this game followed the same idea. Throw the ball to your partner (the ball had a kite like thing attached to it) and if you catch it, you take a step back.
Cristian's entire class during field day

For lunch that same day the did a family BBQ. We weren't sure if Ava would be able to eat the school lunch because of allergies, so she packed her own lunch. She dumped an entire bag of fish crackers into her lunch box :)
All of us eating lunch in Cristian's classroom :)

Class Field Trip

Wednesday I went to Cristian's First Grade Field Trip, IN THE RAIN. It was fun, despite the gloomy weather. Here we are walking to the park together :)

Ava's Allergy Appt

Ava had her quarterly appt at her Allergy/Asthma doctor. The postivie thing is her eczema is looking really good right now. Just eliminating the eggs from her diet has really helped (along with her nightly bath/slathering of lotions and creams). The bummer is she now has full blown asthma. So she is on 2 different inhalers. Fortunately, for now, she only has to take it as needed, or before/after a sports activity. (and if she gets sick she has to take it 3-5 times a day as needed). After her appointment we went and had lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe!
My sweet Ava girl, and my somewhat concerned Carter. He had a swinging monkey right above his head and every time he moved he was not too sure about it. He ended up in my lap for most of lunch.

Windshield Wipers

Not sure why, but about a week ago, Carter decided that windshield wipers freak him out. Whenever I use them he hunches over in his car seat and hides from them. I happened to have my camera in the car and just had to take a picture of him. Poor baby... we have to use those windshield wipers A LOT in our state too! Hopefully this is just a short lived "fear".

Ava found a fancy little chair to sit in at the party... she looked so cute sitting in it with her legs crossed like a little lady :)
My 3 cousins who graduated from Mercer Island HS... the twins, Robbie and Talia, and Brett. Congratulations guys!! Robbie will be attending Amherst University, Talia will be going to Notre Dame, and Brett will be going to Harvey Mud in So Cal.

Husky Hustle

Friday was Husky Hustle day at Cristian's school. It's a really fun activity that the entire school participates in. I signed up to volunteer and brought Ava with me. Here she is helping Rhubarb, the Tacoma Rainiers (the Mariners AAA baseball team) mascot decorate for the event.
I was put in charge of the 1st graders snack table.
Here's Cristian lining up with his class at the start of the Hustle
ALL of the First graders lined up and ready to start running. (each grade was assigned a color to wear... obviously C's grade was green :)
Here comes Cristian after his first lap around the entire school.
Grabbing a quick snack after lap 3
Ava participated too!
She ran a total of 6 laps!
Cristian finishing his 8th lap
and grabbing another snack
They ran their last lap together :) Cristian ran 12 laps total. He really seems to enjoy running and is excited to participate on the school's track team next year. (you have to be in 2nd grade)
