Well, Ava has been waiting and waiting for this day to come ever since her last day of preschool. She has been so excited to start Kindergarten :) Her morning finally arrived, and she got to chose what she wanted me to fix her for breakfast. She chose waffles and peaches.

We got all dressed and ready in time to take a couple of pictures before heading to school.

She was so excited, most of her smiles were like this!

Looking like a Kindergartener :)

Had to get a couple of the door step too

Cristian was very excited to have his sister at school! I had several people tell me stories of just how cute they were, including the principal. Cristian was walking down the hall with a couple of his classmates after finishing a computerized MAP test (Measurement of Academic Progress). He saw the principal in the hallway walking towards the Kindergarten classrooms, and struck up a conversation with him about it being his sister's first day of school, and he was wondering how she was doing. Well, our principal, being the wonderful person he is, went into the classroom and said hello to Ava (and all the kindergarteners), and passed on the message to Ava that Cristian was "hoping your first day was going well!" She smiled and said, "this is one of the best days of my life." Then the principal went to Cristian's classroom to tell him that Ava was having a great day and has been working hard.

Here's Ava outside her classroom, with her friend Madisen from preschool. So cute how their teacher is smiling so adoringly at the girls!

Ava at her table :) Big smiles!

working on her first project

It was a long 6.5 hours for me... I got to the school about 20 minutes early :) She had a big smile on her face when she walked around the corner and saw me waiting for her in the "Pick up Zone"

Sitting with her friends Ari, Madisen, and Adilyn after their first day of school! Ava is very lucky to already know 3 girls in her class :)

Here are the kids with their little "first day of school gifts" from mom and dad.
Another cute story a friend of mine shared with me... she works at the school and helps out as a Duty at recess. The K-2nd graders eat lunch from 11:20-11:50, and then have recess from 11:50-12:20. The 3-5th graders do the opposite, so they go to recess first, then have lunch. So there is a very brief amount of time where Cristian and Ava always try and "cross paths". Cristian ran over to the kindergarten room right when the bell ring, in hopes to see Ava line up outside her classroom to go to recess. When he saw her, my friend Amy told me he was waving and yelling out "hi Ava" and telling everyone around him "that's my sister." Then Ava ran over to his 3rd grade classroom (while they are eating lunch and she was at recess) to wave at him through the window. She said they were so cute, and it reminded her of the first time her son and daughter went to school together.

Very cute story! I can just picture the two of them! Glad Ava had a great first day!
It's very cute how your kiddos look out for each other!! It sounds like both C and A had great first days of school!
