Our 2nd morning there we went to The High Desert Museum.

Family picture

The kids checking out some of the animals that are native to the High Desert area.

A replica of one of the wagons used on the Oregon Trail

An example of an 1880's log cabin, which is what the houses looked like when some of the early settlers made there way into Oregon.

A typical bathroom during that time period. The kids wanted me to take a picture of it because it looks like SHREK's bathroom :)

Carter and Ava waiting for the animal show

The Falcon. The fastest animal in the world. He can free fall from high in the sky at about 200 mph to catch its prey.

The badger. They showed us how fast this little guy can dig through all that dirt.

Up close picture of the badger

The owl

The porcupine

The boys checking out the Native American exhibits.

Another wagon

back at the hotel, our friend Chimpy was waiting for us.

Our routine pretty much every day was to have a planned family activity in the morning, then we'd come back and have lunch, then while Carter was napping the older two kids would play in the pool. Then Carter would eventually join us when he woke up! It was so GREAT having such relaxing afternoons by the pool reading, and watching the kids swim. Here's Ava jumping into the pool :)

Cristian saying hi to Chimpy...

and Chimpy's babies

she had 3 of them :)

Isn't she so cute! I wish we had chipmunks in our area!!

What a fun trip! Love these photos. Thanks for sharing!
I love hanging out at the pool, too. Sounds like a wonderful vacation. I can't wait to hear about the rest of it.
Those chipmunks are adorable!! Emma would have loved seeing a badger up that close! Great pics!! :)
That really does look like Shrek's bathroom! Good call from the kiddos :-)
Badgers are very very mean, we know that here in WI! But was a cool museum, my girls would have loved it!
